Dear Inner Child, Remember Your Refuge

Watch the animated short film below (2:30).

A simple sketch of a person outlined in white with shining lines around their body and a large red heart on their chest, on a black background.

Hey, you.

Yes, you the little one inside.

I know it’s busy out here.

The world is loud.

It’s fast, and it feels like it’s only getting harder.

But I promise you, you are safe.

And from that safety, when you feel it.

When you reconnect to it,

when you remember it,

something beautiful begins.

There is joy, there is calm.

There is a whole world waiting to meet you.

Because when we find refuge within,

We can build from it slowly, gently.

A moment at a time, a breath, a pause, a smile.

And little by little we begin to create it refuge in our homes,

In our hearts, in our communities,

Refuge that can hold us when the world forgets how.

And as these moments build,

As these sanctuaries grow,

Something shifts,

the collective softens,

the noise begins to quiet.

And you little one,

I invite you to rest.

I invite you to breathe,

to listen, to let go, to be held,

because when you return to yourself

fully, gently, without force,

you help us all remember how to come home.
